Dear Hobie sailors,

The It is with great sadness I report the passing of IHCA and EHCA Life Member Shirley Palmer. Shirley with her husband Ron formed as the Executive Director of the IHCA. Shirley was the Executive Director of the EHCA. With Ron they shared the former North American Hobie Class Association Membership Chair and Tucson Hobie Fleet #514. Though more importantly she was just a lovely lady who always had smile and time for any Hobie sailor.

The Shirley passed away in a rafting accident with her friends doing what she liked doing, living life to the fullest. Shirley is loved and survived by her husband of 48 years, Ron Palmer; daughters, Karen Sue Palmer (granddaughters, Marcia and Autumn) and Kristen Lynn Candito (Craig) (grandchildren, Tyler and Alexandra), all of whom reside in Tucson, Arizona. Hobie sailors can leave tributes to Shirley on the IHCA Facebook page In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Susan G Komen Foundation in honour of Shirley, who was a breast cancer survivor. Donations may be made online: www.komensaz.org or sent to 4574 E. Broadway Boulevard, Tucson, AZ 85711. The Hobie Community extends our deepest sympathy to Ron and his family.
