Does anybody have any tips on getting the plastic rudder cam adjustment screw out of the casting? I'm afraid to try drilling it out for fear of messing up the threads.

Thanks,

Vince

When they real stuck they are stuck, try a reverse thread bit, we have had good luck with these, wear goggles they tend to shatter! I have also drilled out most of the screw, then taken a pair of needle noise and gotten the rest.

why are you wanting to remover them, we always try to leave them in if possible, we replace the spring and plunger, only the stuck screw if we can't solve the came problem any other way.

Go here for a great tutorial. Jeremy at Surf City Catamarans drilled out the screws on my 18 in no time flat.

Thanks for the replies. I've replaced plungers, springs and cams and still have the problem of having to reset the cams at times and wanted to get some adjustment. I've had the boat for over 20 years and have never been able to move the adjustment screw, so I've decided to replace them.
