These maintenance tips will extend the life of your kayak. Refer to your kayak manual for additional maintenance procedures.

Mirage Drive
To keep your Mirage Drive in top condition, it is always good to take care of it after each use. Rinse the mechanism after each use to remove sand, seaweed, saltwater and any other water particles. Cable tension should be checked periodically or when it doesn't seem to be performing properly.

Kayak Storage
It is best to store your kayak and Mirage Drive in a dry covered area. If you are storing your kayak outdoors, a rack can be made from 2x4s and covered with a tarp. Keep your kayak off the ground to prevent your kayak from being covered in mud from rain or spring thaw. When the kayak isn't in use, remove the drain plug to allow for pressure changes and water removal. When storing for the winter, it is probably a good idea to remove your seatback and take it indoors, away from those pesky mice looking for nest material.
