I have been looking for a long time for a mid 2000's model Hobie 16 and located one in my state. Unfortunately my parents were out of town and in the week they were gone the boat was posted and sold. If anyone has a Hobie 16 for sail anywhere near Topeka, Kansas I would be forever grateful. I have wanted to get my first Hobie for about a year and a half now and I do not know how much longer I can wait.

Have we met?
If not, we need to meet.

Our next regatta is April 27,28. We will get you out on a boat.

Yes come out and join us! We will get you on the water nearly as much as you want until you can score your own ride.

I will admit I would be very rusty and possibly a major handicap as I have never sailed this class of boat before. The boats I sail are Melges E, C, MC, and X's. These boats do not have the speed of a hobie nor a trapeze.

No worries cj, sailing is sailing, speed is relative to the class boat your on that day.
You've got a great background already as most of us went from zero to Hobie 16.

We sail out of KSA http://www.kansassailing.com/ at Bloomington Park, should be a short trip for you.
Send us your email so we may keep you updated of our plans for getting on the water.
Newcomers, with or without boats, are always welcome.
My wife Lynn will be having foot surgery in mid-May and I'll need crew!

I have a Hobie 16 for sale. It is an older Hobie built in 81. It has very low time on the water and was stored unused in a barn for the last 20 years. Blue hulls and tramp with tequila sunrise sails. I purchased the boat from the original owner five years ago and we immediately had a tornado in which it was very lightly damaged. A flying piece of debris was blown into the starboard hull and left a light puncture in the gel coat about 6 inches long. It is easily repairable with no structural damage done to the hull. It has been stored inside my workshop since then. Never stored outside since new. Both hulls are solid and dry as a bone with zero soft spots. The Hobie sits on a Skipper B factory trailer on which I just installed new wheel bearings and races.

I originally bought the 16 as a sibling to my Hobie 14 that my father originally bought in 75. I have decided that I do not have the time for two cats and hope to find a good home for this 16. I live and the boat is located in Mena, AR. $1,200.
