This won't be for everybody nor for the specific type of fishing you might do from your Hobie Island, but it works well for our purposes.

I really like that one Tom. My initial thoughts are that it's in an ideal location. I currently have mine mounted on 'what I thought' was a great location. My little toe however has other ideas every time it gets wacked whilst peddling, but it is the only bit of me that complains.

How long have you been using it and are there any negatives ?

A few weeks and so far so good. The holders allow you to set the rods far enough outside the cockpit that the rod handles aren't in your way.

I had tried some RAM mounts set further forward along the gunwale. They worked but weren't nearly as handy as these mounts.

Great idea Tom--if I were to do it I might go with the aluminum one as I heave my AI around with the handles.
