I am trying to figure whether to go outback or revolution.
I expect to sail maybe 30% of the time.Location is southwest Florida.

I have seen some older posts, mostly on revolution vs something else.
Any current outback/ revolution sailors feedback? Thanks

Go with the Revolution.

I have owned and tried both kayaks for sailing, pedaling, and paddling. The Revolution in my opinion is a faster and better kayak for sailing and all around use. The Outback is stable and great for fishing, but you definitely loose speed while sailing or pedaling. It's really wide and it's difficult if you just want to paddle. The Revolution is a better choice for you; it is the best of the Adventure and the Outback.

I don't have an Outback but the wife has a Sport. I have the Revolution and sail it when there is wind. For a kayak I don't think it could be much better. I did buy the sidekicks and that helped a lot. The Revolution is a great all round kayak. The outback like the sport make a lot of water chop noise. The Revo cuts through the water silently and is faster.

Also check this forum for modifications you can easily do that will enhance sailing. I made a boom bat for the sail and blocks and cleats for the mainsheet. Great improvement.

Now the down side. I was at the lake and the owner of an Adventure Island let me take it out. Now I really want one! But I will stay with the Revo.

Happy Sailing, Bruce
