We will peroidically tow our Kayaks, moor them alongside our larger boats and lift the kayaks onto docks and cabin tops. The small pad eyes on the bow and stern, and the back up washers seem a bit small for these tasks. I have reviewed the "Hobie handles"--and definately will be putting these, plus several RAM mounts for GPS and Fish finder (and other uses).

However, I am proposing to put a Johnson Pad eye on both the fore deck and aft deck. These are 1/4" SS bales, on a 2" x 2.5" base, which fasten thru the hull with 1/4" SS bolts, and have full back up plates. Any suggestions on specific areas (Since the foredeck slopes from the middle) it should be installed on. Obviously aft, we will keep it clear of the rudder, but there it also might be a good "tow eye" if we become a good simaritan, as Roadrunner seems to do often!.

Second question--Do you use a beding compound--like 5200 (or I notice that Marine Goop is used for Depth sounder transducers) when puttin on hardware. is there any material which reacts adversely with the plastic.

I wonder where I have been the last few years to have missed out of the Mirage drive! Great boats!
