Post subject:  New Hobie Quest and Quest Fisherman

You may have noticed that there are two brand-new yaks from Hobie: the Quest and the Quest Fisherman. The main differences between them is that the Fisherman model comes in only sand and green granite, while the regular Quest can be had in all the basic Hobie colors. The second difference is that the Sportsman's Pack is included with the Fisherman, whereas it is an option on the basic Quest.

However, both Quests are quite different from the Outback. The Quests lack a rudder and mast holder, and do not have the Mirage drive pedal system. I would guess that the Quest model probably satisfies complaints from fishers who liked the basic Hobie design, but did not want, or need, the Mirage drive pedal system.

Here is the info on the Quest Fisherman Model:
Cockpit has two large hatches, three rod-holders, mesh-covered stowage pockets, and plenty of room for gear. Another new feature is an OPTIONAL rear hatch. This boat is longer than the Outback, with the large forward hatch permitting better internal hull access, presumably even big enough for in-hull rod storage for surf launches and exits.

Specifications:
Length: 13'0"/ 3.96m
Width: 28.5" / 0.72 m
Weight: 57lbs. / 25.84kg
Capacity: 350 lbs. / 158.76 kg

Features:
>> Adjustable deluxe seat
>> Two-piece paddle w/ on hull storage
>> Two hatches (8"/large bow hatch)
>> Center accessory tray and cup holder
