I am sure this has been discussed before, but I'd like to see a current discussion on the carts which attach via the scupper holes. Do they damage your Hobie? The Roleez wheels are wonderful on the sand, hardpack or soft ... sort of glide on top. But I find them a pain in the rear to use. The Hobie scupper attached wheels are just so darn easy to use, but are horrid over sand and not that great on grass. I'm thinking of making (or having the hubby make) a scupper hole cart with Roleez wheels, but want opinions on whether this type of cart stresses the Outback. |

Those wheels aren't cheap, but look worth the research. Verify if they will fit the cart as is. Add a quick release for the wheels and a larger deck lid where the tackle box goes so you can store the wheels to conserve space behind the seat. |

I made a scupper dolly for my Quest out of PVC tubing. It uses two 10" inflatable wheels I bought at Harbor Freight for less than $20. Axle is 5/8" threaded rod. I bought everything except the wheels at Home Depot. Total cost including wheels was about $50. |

the wheels you mention work well the first season, but as soon as they get salt or sand in the ball bearings, the wheels no longer work as they once did. Our wheels are solid plastic rims with pneumatic tires..just something to watch out for. Rinsing the wheels after every use might extend the life of them. www.suffolkkayak.com |
