Old post but wondering if anyone knows where to stay that has good access for day trips on the Black Canyon? Trying to plan a vacation in June (5-15) and this may be it. Do you think it is safe to bring kids (3 and 7) on this stretch of River? Is swimming advisable anywhere for the kids? |

as an aside, as of this year NV requires an aquatic invasive species (AIS) decal on any boat in state water. details here: http://www.ndow.org/Boat/Aquatic_Invasi ... formation/ |

cbump- The Hacienda is the only hotel/casino close to the dam. Rooms were $40 a night last week. Pets ok with no deposit. Food was good. (My brother and his wife just stayed there) I would probably keep the kids close to shore. The wind is constant during the summer (from the south) and can make it feel like a roller coaster ride. The water is pretty cold year 'round. There's plenty of shore line by the marina to set up chairs, shade etc. Plenty of parking. Hope this helps |
