This may be a question for MMiller or Apalache, but I wouldn't mind hearing from others.

I have no problem with the actual rudder or the foot pedals. The pedals actually are quite cool and serves a double purpose of foot rest and navagation system for the rudder.

My only complaint, and it is something that has bothered me since I bought the yak earlier this year, is the quality of cord.

Why doesn't Hobie use a steel wire instead of the cord currently used on all models? I know the cord is supposed to be rated to withstand something like 800 pounds of pressure, but after 25 fishing trips (approximately 75 hours on the water), the cord frayed and eventually snapped.

Spoke with Jon S. today and he recommended the wire replacement.

I also am not a big fan of the cleat/tie off for the extra cord.

Any thoughts? Has anyone experienced this issue. If so, how did you remedy the problem? Do you have any photos of your work?

Thanks,

Rol
