Have you considered the new Pains Wessex FASTFIND Plus (w/GPS) Personal Locator Beacon. Only 6" high x 3" wide x 2.1" thick, weighing in at 9 oz the FASTFIND series of PLB's is designed for backpackers, kayakers and small boat owners. PLB's work on the same frequency as standard 406MHz EPIRBS and also have the 121.5MHz homing beacon. These units are designed to provide 24 hours of transmission time. The battery pack needs to be replaced every 5 years if the unit is not used. I have seen them on the internet with free for a lifetime replacement batteries. $549 |
