I'm looking for ideas on how to store a Mirage Outback and Mirage Outfitter in my back yard. I'd like to store them open side down, as Hobie recommends, and one above the other on a rack that can support two yaks. They would be shaded year round, so sun damage and high temperatures are not a huge concern.

Does anyone know if such a rack exists? Do I need to custom make something to solve this problem?

Check this thread - viewtopic.php?f=73&t=18432&hilit=storage - It shows how others are storing them. I'm particularly impressed by Kayaking Bob's set-up.

Here is how I store my outback under my deck. One green strap keeps the slings together. The other will keep the outback from hitting the house during a windy storm. It is hung close to the house to leave room for a future Hobie. Next winter when we hopefully have an Oasis I'll store the rocking chairs else ware and hang the Oasis right next to the Outback.

I just bought a new Outfitter.

I don't have my suspension hung in my garage yet.
How bad an idea is it to temporarly let it sit on the ground on it's edge?

Any help appreciated

I have a sport that I leave at camp on it's side all summer long and have never had an issue.

I store mine on its side, too. I try and rotate it to its other side every week. But I also have a home-made crossbar mounted on it (for mounting outrigger floats and a FF transducer) that helps keep it from "sagging". The crossbar also works as sort of a kickstand.
