It's time to mark your calendar for this annual event. There is a 5 mile race for the fun and recreational crowd and a 20 mile race for the more serious racers.

The entry price includes T shirt, lunch, awards, etc., and all proceeds go to the YMCA aquatics program. It's a fun event and a great opportunity to take the family out to San Diego/Coronado for the day.

There are more entry categories than you can shake a stick at -- singles, tandems, men, women, mixed, family, SOTs, SIKs rowers, paddle boards, outriggers, canoes, etc. etc. The Mirage Drive Hobies have done so well against the paddlers in the past that they may designate separate pedaling categories this year.

Sounds like fun! Is there a shuttle for the racer & kayak to get back to the start point or do I need to paddle/peddle back?

They have had shuttles in the past -- would expect the same this year. 8)

It's also fun to look at the great variety of boats that show up. Here's a small sample:

Just a reminder, Sunday June 5 is the last chance to register without penalty for next Saturday's race. The weather looks typical for the season -- morning low clouds giving way to sunshine -- should be a great day! What an excellent way to support the local youth programs and have fun doing it! 8)
