My son is 8 years old. I'm planning on buying him a Hobie for Kayak Fishing. I have a Revo 13. I was thinking a Revo 11 for him. What do others think that have experience with kids and Hobies?

What age is your son. Or how long are his legs? Real young with short legs, I would get the smallest hobie available. Or get the 11 and let him grow to it.

I do not have any experience with the revo 11, but my 9 year old cousin loves his Sport. He is less than 5' tall. Let him demo both kayak and see which one he is more comfortable in.

I can even use the sport, but I am a little cramped at 6'2.

Does the local dealer have demo days in your area? As long as he can pedal the 11 ok now it would allow for a lot of growth over the years.

Here is a video of my niece using a sport. The video was intended for my brother and his daughter when they came up for summer vacation and contains a bunch of other stuff. You can see here peddling like crazy within the first 30 seconds, so just ignore the rest of the video.

She loved the sport so much, she spent most of her vacation on it!

I'd get a Revo 13 for him. More boat than the Revo 11 for only $100 more. If you get him a Sport, once he gets a little older he will want to use your Revo 13 instead. :P

Well, any way you go (Sport, Revo 11 or 13) you are fine, because the Hobies retain such great value, you can get a lot of it back and then use that money to fund your next Hobie, say a PA12 or 14 :D
