Post subject:  Question on Hobie Trailer

For any of you that has one, the Hobie single kayak trailer is listed as having a tongue to fit a 1-7/8th inch ball. All my trailers have 2-inch balls and I don't want to have to swap back and forth. Can anyone tell me if this trailer has the standard bolted-on tongue? If so I should be able to replace it with a larger tongue (shim) and leave it at that. Just want to be sure it is possible to replace the tongue.

Tom, the coupler is bolted on the Trailex trailer.
Don't mess with the tongue as it's a special aluminum channel.
I changed my coupler to a 2" model.....went to my NAPA store and the coupler was about $26.00.
Just make sure the coupler is designed to fit the 2.5" aluminum channel. 8)

As long as I can unbolt it I can deal with it. Just wasn't sure if the unit was a bolt-on or not. Thanks.
