My wifes 2004 hobie sport is taking on water with a hairline crack. I have identified the problem area and i am trying to find the best solution for a permanent fix.

I am wary some of the glues and such could get it and expand the crack too make it worse.

I ordered the "KC Welder Pro with Hobie Color Rod Stock" online. Is this all I will need?

Any advice helpful.

Yes, that should be all you need depending on the location of the crack. If at all possible I recommend doing some test trials with the welder. The welder can heat up pretty quickly and you can do more damage than you can repair if you are not careful. It's really pretty simple to fix a crack but just make sure you pay attention to how the the area around the crack is reacting.

I fixed an Adventure Island with a serious split in the hull. It's good as new (for now anyway).

The key is to get the crack or split area hot first, then melt the repair plastic in place. I suggest practicing a bit before you undertake the repair. But yes, it can be done and can result in a permanent fix.
