Post subject:  Hobie Outback on Rack and Roll 66

I am planning to get two Hobie Outbacks and am wondering if the Rack and Roll 66 would be wide enough to carry them using the PVC pipe system to carry them. I would prefer to avoid the wider 78" trailer if the 66" will work. Seems to me it ought to, but would like to be more sure before ordering one.

Appreciate the help

Two 33" boats on one 66" trailer? Not going to work. Now if you get cradles, you can carry the boats upright, and let each one hang just a little over the side, such as the picture below.

Otherwise, put them in J cradles, they're cheap, and if you've got the boats behind your car, the wind shouldn't be an issue.

The reason that I can't see it working as you say is because you'll need some space between the boats. Maybe I'm missing something, but any way I look at it, I can't see it being an ideal solution.

I've tried it. You need the wider version of the trailer.

I have two outbacks and the 66 works fine if you have the malone seawings. Set the wings apart enough for the yaks to not touch... The yaks will be about three inches over the sides, but still safe on the road. About as wide as the car or PU you are pulling it with. /Users/knoll/Desktop/THREEHobies

I thought I could post a pict, but not luck... Sorry.

I did not see a picture of your PVC system but 78" would be a safer bet as it provides more room for play and error.

Also, it does not limit future configurations. Right now, I haul 3 Hobies on my 78" (Adventure, Revo 13, and Oasis) on Bowdown J-cradles and I have plenty of room to spare. I am planning on adding a cargo box so all of my gear can be easily accessed from the trailer.

Is it possible to add the 78" Yakima bars to replace the 66" bars?

I hadn't thought of that. Will check it out.
