Hello all - I'm just wanting to make sure to store my wife and I's 2 new Hobie Sports properly. We just have a small garage so vertical storage is the only option. I watched one of Hobie's YouTube videos where they mention to either store the kayak on it's top, side, or end. Is the front end okay (as seen in picture below)?...and leaned against the bottom (right wall) and side (front wall) - as indicated by the red arrows? Or am I putting too much weight on any particular points? Thank you for any feedback.

Hi Ryan,

From what I can see, you're storing your kayaks the same way Hobie warehouse them.
Certainly it's better to stand them on the bow than on the rudder.

Thanks for the reply, Oatesy. I just wasn't sure if I was putting too much weight on the bottom of the blue kayak, leaning against the wall with the red kayak's weight too. And yes, bow vs. rudder made sense to me too :)

I don't know, but I would look for some sort of foam/neoprene mat to put under them to both reduce the chance of slip and to spread the weight-bearing base a little bit.

My biggest concern would be when taking them down or putting them up. If the bottom starts sliding on you, the only thing you can do is to get the heck out of the way  Like someone mentioned, you may wish to put a rubber mat under them. That would keep them from sliding.

Thank you for the replies. I feel more confident now, that I am not doing something wrong :) And yes, I should have mentioned I will be getting a rubber mat for underneath (from these guys: http://www.dinoflex.com)...and will also be sticking some foam between the blue kayak and the wall, just for some extra cushion.

No dent. Just the light hitting them funny. Good eye, though.

I was thinking the same thing, also w/the blue one.
Here's an easy fix for the dent removal,
