We used the above method and made it 3 miles back to the launch with no noticeable effort. Grandpa to the rescue!! Towing side-by-side is the recommended way of towing power boats, especially large ones, in calm water conditions. I have assisted many disabled boats this way. Rigging of a spring line is essential in most cases. One big advantage is that you are actually able maneuver the rescued boat up to the dock where thay can safely tie up. This sure beats getting them close and cutting them loose, especially if there is a breeze or tidal flow going away from the dock. |
