I need a new one. It's gotta be handheld ofcourse...submersible and floating would be nice. Can't spend more than $150 Thanks for your input! |

I have a Uniden MHS 75. It's very solid radio and hard to beat for the price. I've had it for a year and very happy with it. It's been fully submerged in saltwater several times with no issues. only drawback - it does not float |

IComm - ICM88 is outstanding. Not sure it floats, I keep mind tethered. It is submersible waterproof. IComm does make a floating version, although it's a tad larger in order to increase displacement. Another pretty darn good one that we found for a lot less money is the Cobra MRHH125. You can get a pair for about $100. Also submersible waterproof. Again, not sure if it floats, keep it tethered. |

I recently bought a Standard Horizon HX300. I have only had it out in big water a couple of times so I can't really comment on durability, but the features I like are 1)very compact 2) floating 3)ease of use (once the features are learned) 4) good (understandable) sound quality. Like most kayakers I wanted something really small and light but I also know that in the chaos of an emergency numbers 3 and 4 become paramount. The only negative comment I have so far is that it's keyboard functions are not real intuitive so I actually had to read the manual, which is something I almost never do. I picked it up with a sale coupon for about $125. |

Cobra MRHH 330FLT Marine Two-Way VHF Floating Transceiver Radio 2-Way This is what I just purchased and is well known and reliable. Purchased through E-bay 121.00 plus 12.00 for shipping. Has weather reporting the works. I will be out on the ocean and want to be informed. Hope this helps |
