Thanks to the Hobie and Texas forum I finally finished rigging my kayak to fish. Thanks for all the ideas/pictures/videos. Beautiful hot day today, tomorrow i'll try to take it out for the first time fully rigged. Heres a video of it. Mahaloz from Kauai! http://youtu.be/t5um7dVgpYg |

Very nice modifications. Do the pontoons get in the way when you're trying to land big fish? I have toyed with the idea of getting a similar set but knowing how the Bonito and Kingfish like to circle the craft at the end of the fight, I don't want to introduce anything for my lines to tangle on. |

The other option is when u order the stabilizer tell Chuck you want an extra set of mount plates ($15) i think, if u notice i have a pair on the back of my yak, that way i can move the whole thing behind me if i want the area in front of me clear. I always leave mine on unless its really flat and im just playing in a bay. they are great when i go diving/spearfishing, makes it much easier to constantly jump in and out of yak. I havent tried them on when i sail yet, ill let u know how that goes. |
