I just made a little video showing why I like to use my kayak as a photography and video platform... And I realized that the Hobie logo is pretty visible at different times throughout the movie, and I thought some of you might enjoy it.

Very cool. I have lots of photos over the years of all kinds of wildlife. A fresh water otter family is one of my favorite sets of pics.
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks. I've been paddling this Quest since 2006, and have logged many thousands of hours in it. It's amazing the amount of wildlife you can come across while moving quietly through the water.

On Tomales Bay where I do much of my kayaking we have several families of river otter , and they are always some of my favorites to watch. They always have a very good, curious energy... that and they catch a lot of fish

Great stuff reminding me to get back to Tomales. What camera you shooting the video with for the wildlife stuff? Gopro for the yakmounted?

I have the GoPro Hero2 mounted on my kayak. I'm controlling it with my iPhone as a remote.

The bigger, handheld camera is a Canon 7D. Mostly I was using a 300mm lens, sometimes with an additional 1.4x converter on it when shooting stills. When shooting video, no additional magnification. It's a pretty good combination setup having the GoPro and the Canon.

Tomales Bay is pretty fantastic. Huge variety of marine life, shore life, and fish. Definitely a place worth returning too.
