I recently purchased my first Hobie Revo 13, a demo from a local dealer who has surrendered his dealership. He wasn't certain what the year of manufacture was, but I'm curious....Does anyone on the forum have a chart or a link that would allow me to find out when mine was peeled out of the mold? I have the usual zillion plus questions that come with wanting to replace some basic parts and making it pretty again, prior to the first launch and knowing the year of manufacture would help. Thank you in advance for any info...Dave

This is from Matt Miller on the faq page:

Serial number location on Hobie Kayaks

Serial numbers on Hobie Kayaks are located on the transom or rear of the hull. The number is hand-engraved using a vibration tool. The number is on the underside of the rear of the boat, on the right side. Newer boats have a rectangular, raised, ridge around the serial number to make it easier to find. You can rub a small amount of graphite or soil into the serial number engraving to make it easier to read. Serial numbers use the following format: (example CCMB2345H989)

Dig around on these forums: there is a formula for deciphering the meaning of the serial numbers which will indicate Model year and the Manufacturing year and month. The code is based on letters which means you have to know what the letters mean to decipher the code.

From the Hobie kayak web page:

• On kayaks, serial numbers are located near the rear of the boat, on the underside on most models.
Broken into its component parts (US- | CCM | B | 1234 | A | 7 | 08) , a boat serial number conveys the following information:
• US- or FR- or CN-: Country of origin of the boat (Hobie boats are made in the United States, France, and China. The country of origin may not appear on older boats.
• CCM or HCC or HCE: Indicates the manufacturing company. CCM and HCC indicate boats manufactured by Hobie Cat Company (USA). HCE indicates boats manufactured by Hobie Cat Europe.
• B: Indicates the model.
• 1234: Sequential serial number.
• A: Month of manufacture – A (January) through L (December).
• 7: Last digit of the year of manufacture.
• 08: Last two digits of the model year.
