I have a 2012 Hobie Oasis with the Scotty 244 Flush Deck Mount installed just in front of the mesh pockets in the rear cockpit. Now that I've found fishing from the front cockpit much more manageable, I've tried various mounting options for my gear, but none great, especially since the top of side rail is much narrower up front. Decided that some GT90 in front of the pocket would work, but means extra adapters for my Scotty rod holders and extensions. Then I saw this photo:
It's one of the Hobie promo images for the Oasis, and shows the same flush mount in front of the side pocket, on the narrow gunnel of the front cockpit - exactly what I'd like to do.
I'm not afraid to do some drilling, but thought I'd check here before committing myself. Anybody actually done this? Any ideas on keeping away from the rudder up line and hardware there?
Thanks,
Sam
