I just took delivery of a 2013 Mirage Outback. Not my first fishing yak but I am quite excited to fish and troll nearly hands free now. While setting up the yak for her maiden voyage I noticed a couple items which I was unable to find answers to on the web or in my manual. Forgive me if these have been covered before on this forum.

Questions 1: It appears that the seating area has two sets of seat pegs. Is this purely for placing the seat more fore or aft? It seems that the unused set should have some type of plug to prevent the intrusion of water into the hull.

Question 2: Just below the sail mast mount in the cockpit is a black peg fastened with a Philips head screw. Is this only for use with the sail kit?

Thanks to any who respond and I'm happy to join the Hobie angling family!

Q1 answer: yes but there's no real need for blanking plugs for the spare set of holes because they do not open into the hull (or at least, they shouldn't do)

Q2 answer: if we both mean the small black peg fitting below the mast base on the front wall of the cockpit then yes: there's a loop of bungee on the bottom of the sail - the mast goes into the mast base with the sail on it like a sock - you then pull the bungee loop down and slip it over the black peg fitting to tension the sail and stop it sliding up the mast. Because it is only really relevant to those who sail, some of those who don't remove the peg fitting and replace it with something else e.g. a pad-eye or w.h.y. for other purposes.

Stobbo,

Thank you! I investigated a little further and indeed, the peg holes are closed beneath. And...the peg location seems like a perfect location for a pad eye to affix the drive leash. Again, thanks for your prompt reply to a Hobie newbie.
