Howdy,
Any advice on getting the small mast out of the housing in order to put the longer mast for the Turbos in? The instructions advise using a bench vise but I don't want to bust something.

Install the drive in your boat. Roll over on its side. The boat will hold the drive well enough.

Using the boat as a drive holder is a great idea. Before getting your boat out, you might be able to remove them using the following procedure:

Once you've loosened or removed the Allenhead screw, you should be able to set the drive down on a table and, using a padded set of vice grips or pliers, gently twist the old mast as you extract it with one hand while stabilizing the drive with the other. It's all in the twist!

When installing the new masts, make sure they're fully seated and properly aligned. Snug, but don't over tighten the Allenheads and don't over tighten the clew screws (if that's the style you have). The rear sprocket protector should be able to pivot on its shaft. 8)

Thanks for the help. Before I removed the short masts, I marked the mast where it entered the sprocket protector with a fine point sharpie. Once removed, (the twist is the key) I transferred the mark to the longer mast and installed it. I had to tap it to get all the way to the mark, but at least I knew where to stop. lol.
I'm Turbo charged!!
