I have a Hobie Oasis 2012 .
I trim the kayak when solo using the Kayak with 5 U.S. Gallons ( 20 Liters ) of water in a plastic bottle at the forward mirage drive location .
The 40 Lbs . of ballast gives better control of the Oasis Kayak in Higher Winds .

Kilts, welcome to the forum. Have you tried soloing from the front cockpit? the boat goes a little faster and it requires less ballast because you're sitting closer to the centerline. Operating the boat from the two vantage points makes it feel like two different vessels. 8)
