Picked up new hull from KFS last week but didn't notice screw under drive well area unti la few days ago....what is the point of screw---the area inside kayak seems to be filled with plastic alrady so it doesn't seem to be related to fix kit. |

I could be wrong, but I think Matt and company may be in transit to Orlando. Surf Expo starts Thursday and I know Hobie has a display. Brian C |

I was out of the office on another Hobie trip / demo day in South Dakota. The screw is threaded into the brass insert we use to get the area filled with plastic during the molding process. The brass draws more heat and then more plastic there to make it solid. The screw is nothing more than a cap for the hole. They had been putting small plastic plugs in there, so not really sure why this one has a screw, but perhaps it was just a material supply issue. |

My Neighbors Adventure has the same screw on the bottom of the hull. It also has some kind of factory repair done to the area just forward of the mirage drive. It is Hull #1895 We shot some pics and I will post them tomorrow after he e-mails them to me. I am curious if this is the factory solution to making the area stronger. ------------------------------------ Heres the pics |

I don't see a factory repair in those shots, just the solid area due to the insert. |

I referred to it as a repair because my boats do not have it, and I am in the process of obtaining "Well Strengthening Kits" |
