I use the Sidekick Ama for rough weather on tournament days. I found that the float bags get in the way of your paddle stroke. This could be dangerous if you have to make a surf launch / landing. I was thinking about modifying the Amas. Looks like you can cut off about 8" on the inner part of the side bars (right before the bend) This might bring the bags in enough to be able to get full paddle strokes. The question then becomes, how will this effect the stability and are there any other side effects? if you have done this please let me know how it worked out.
Thanks

Riverandsnow,
Which kayak are you using? I use my Sidekicks on my Revo 13 and when I place them just forward of the rear hatch, they don't interfere with the paddle stroke at all and they are still easy to reach to adjust or remove.
