For roof racks, does anyone use J-racks to carry their SPORT or REVO kayaks? size/brand recommendations?

I have an interesting dilemma now that I bought my dad an Outback [and found out how wide it is ie: how much roof rack space it takes up] because I will now have to carry my Revo11 and his Outback on my roof. I think carrying the Outback upside down and a set of J-racks to hold my Revo may do the trick.

For reference, here is my car carrying a Sport and a Revo11 on our spring trip:

As you can see, far from ideal...

I used the Yakima Bowdowns on my Revo 13, Oasis, and Adventure for over a year and I even stored the Revo 13 on the Bowdown (as that is what I used 2-3x a week). They are pricey but I liked the ability to lay the cradles flat when not in use.

I've had no issues when using the Revo or Adventure but the Oasis was a problem on longer trips, if I did not use a bow and stern line.

I see a lot of those Thule J-racks on a lot of vehicles. I can't attest to their performance but if you want to go with votes by purchase, Thule is there.

I would use a bow and stern line on all my yak all the time no matter what the situation or holder. Just my two cents worth. Good Luck

What a great suggestion.

Especially considering the long yaks, and the short spacing between the Thule racks on this Mazda.
