And it appears from the photo, Tom does not even have turbo fins...just the stock fins!

Congrates on the rescue! And yes, with no turbos or larger sail rudder! Yikes.

I've done a few "recues" over time with my Outback, but, um, none were life threatening (just tired paddlers mostly) …except maybe one instance where a sailboat had "turtled" in a local lake and the fire department, on an opposite shore, asked me if I'd go out and see if the owner was in danger. Though he was fighting to get the boat back up, the owner was "water-wise" enough not to be in dire straits, having sailed larger waters such as the San Francisco Bay. But I found that out only after crossing the lake in 30-40mph(?) winds and white-caps. I would NEVER had done that voluntarily in any other kayak.
