Took delivery of my 2015 outback on 10/1. Noticed my seat was torn on 10/2. The cord attachment point on the seat back will wear a hole in the seat bottom very quickly when seat is in closed position for transport. Looks like it probably started tearing during shipping from Hobie, but did not notice it before taking it home. My dealer is still waiting on a response from Hobie on this issue.

Sounds like a transport issue, but I'm sure well look into the cause more closely.

I love the new outback and the new vantage seat is incredibly comfortable, but I have serious concerns about the durability of the material used on the seat. It should have at least been reinforced more where the cord attachment clip rubs when it is folded down. I already told a couple friends with the new outback that they need to place a towel or something to protect that area when folded, but I don't think we should have to worry about something like that on a $2,300 kayak.

Trials and tribulations... all things new have a potential for issues when placed in the real World. People and situations vary so greatly... We'll figure it out.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm sure warranty will respond shortly to your dealer if they have not yet done so.

I am told that the screws have already been moved to the outside in this location, so should not be an ongoing issue. The factory is reviewing packaging and transport of the seats as well.

Can you post a photo so I can inspect my outback when it arrives.
