I have an outback and transport it on a trailer.

Regardless on how tight I tie the kayak down, the straps come disturbingly loose during the transport. I have tried a couple different
types of straps (rachet, regular).

Does anyone have any ideas as to a technique or type of straps to use ?

I use the standard Hobie straps. Then 1 simple knot. Never lets go.

Ditto on the Hobie straps. I trailer two outbacks up-side-down and have two straps on each kayak, no problems.
