Does anyone know the purpose of the two threaded brass inserts where the rear of the vantage seat sets? I recently picked up my 2015 Outback. I asked about the inserts while at my outfitter who, in turn, was told the Hobie Rep suggested the inserts actually served no purpose. I find this premise difficult to accept. From the inserts positioning, it appears to be a logical location for some kind of rubber stop or bumper for the seat. My apologies if this has already been discussed, but I have not yet located this subject in the forum. :?:

From what I understand the threads are there for locating the brass insert in the mold and serve no purpose after molding, as anything there would interfere with the seat.
On the Islands there are similar threads on the mast base inserts under the hull, but these are covered by small nylon plugs.

Matt (mmiller) mentioned them in another thread somewhere. The inserts act as a "collection point" during the molding process so the plastic builds up thicker there than it otherwise would. It's threaded so they can attach it to the mold and keep it in the right position.

The brass inserts are located at "pressure points" and strengthen the deck.
