I purchased the SideKick Ama Kit for my Mirage about 4 months back and upon taking it apart after fishing yesterday, I noticed the main tube that attaches the arms of the AMA kit to the Kayak on the right was split from one of the position holes to the end of the tube. The main tube is pretty thin-walled and it's split about 2 inches from the hole to the end of the tube, I guess. Of course, I have since moved from when I bought the kit, but I'm going to have to get another main tube to use the Sidekick in the position I like to use it in. I'm about 80 miles from a local Hobie dealer now, but do I need to bring it to them to see about getting another main tube? Maybe I could just have it welded? Thanks in advance.

Email a photo to the dealer and ask them to file a claim.

You could place a band around the end (hose clamp?) to use it in the meantime. You can not weld this.

A simple hose clamp! Duh! That's a simple solution and an awesome idea to do for both sides. Looks like a little trip to Autozone or Pep Boys will solve the issue for just a few bucks. I'll also take a quick pic of the cracked tube and the receipt and email the dealer right now as well. Thanks again for the quick reply Matt. :)

I think there is a problem with the SideKick Ama Kit and the new Mirage Outback 2015. The inner board of the boat is much lower than the external board. It is necessary to make a pad with thickness of about 4 mm, but in this case the screw becomes too short.

Here are some pictures:

Probably should be added some pads and longer screws to the kit.

I also want to say that the Outback 2015 is just perfect :)
