Hey guys, new to Kayaking and Hobie. Just purchased a PA14 and an Outback. Haven't even had them in the water yet. My question is about the Heavy Duty Cart. I have one for each Kayak. I just read that there is a possibility of damaging the hull if you do not use PVC Spacers, Tennis Balls, etc. I have installed the Bushings and bottomed them out to be even with the cross bar on the cart. I installed Tennis Balls on top of the bushings.

I have everything loaded on the trailer and secured so I am hoping that I am good to go with the way I have it setup now? Anyone who has these kayaks I would love to hear what you think. I have seen other threads on this but the pictures are not showing so I cant see how they have the tennis balls set. Also, does it matter in what direction the bushings are installed?

Thank you!

I live in a warm part of Oz and have had no problems leaving any of my Hobie's on the carts as long as the Hobie bushings or similar are used so the crossbar doesn't touch, only half the weight is on the cart if you don't stack gear on it.

For my balloon tire beach cart I place a plastic crate under the stern, not lifting totally but just taking most of the weight off the tires to avoid the cold concrete forming any distortions in them.

Recently I invested in a new cart that balances and cradles all my boats perfectly with parallel supports that distribute load.
