Thanks for the quick answer! Well I dropped in the drive and tightened the cams about 200*...it "click"ed a couple times and then was too tight further tighten. I'll try to tighten it more next time.

Thanks again!

Frank;

Be sure to check that the Mirage Drive is dropping all the way down into the well. It shouldn't be difficult to tighten because when you rotate the cams to lock the drive in place, it should rotate into a locked position where it can't rotate anymore.

Here's a link where I had problems with both my Mirage Drives dropping all the way down into the well (socket) as it should. The problem was the Front Drive spine was a bit too long and was binding against the hull in the well.

Yes, I'm going by the name of Branmuffin in this other forum because I couldn't (for some reason) use Kauaiguy.

But read this thread carefully and check that you're not having the same problem.

One question: if I push the pedal forward until it stops there is a knocking noise. Everything was tightened down good and the drive wasn't swaying. I'm guessing that it's just the arm of the pedal hitting the hull?

That's normal when your pedals are not far enough forward. The fins will smack the hull and make that noise. Just move them up one peg.

That's normal also. Hand tight is all that is necessary. You don't have a problem that I can see. Just adjust your stroke length and I think you'll find that all is well! 8)

Roadrunner is spot on dead accurate. Find the pedal position that doesn't smack, then let your physiology program istelf to that stroke. It won't take long before you feel like you can pedal silently for hours.

Thanks guys - I'll try that. I've noticed if I don't go all the way with the stroke that it doesn't bump.

Today at Basspro there was a guy there who has a website www.captdick.net and we spent about a half hour talking. He said I have a great kayak and he gave me lots of tips. I also got an anchor trolley kit from him!!

The big news: I found out today that I'm gonna be able to take my kayak with my dad and I on a fishing trip to the Keys this summer!! 8)

Yea to what Brad said. Stan of CDE (Capt Dick Enterprises) may not be so well known on the Pacific Coast, but he is very well known in the East and Southeast. In fact, he sponsored one of our local CPR kayak tournaments a few months back. He also has some top-notch kayaking gear that is either unavailable, or very hard to find elsewhere.

Yep! Stan was his name! (I had a brain fart when I posted the topic :oops: )

Sunjammers- April will be tough for me since I'm finishing up at school and getting ready for finals. If you guys have anything going on in late May, June, July, or early August I would probably be able to make it. I'll let you know if I can make it, but I doubt it. :(
