So. What would an eKayak look like? Maybe a cross between a Hobie mirage kayak and the Mokai ES-Kape 2.0 (https://www.mokai.com/), which is itself a cross between a kayak and and a small jet ski.

- Use a smaller and lighter 4HP electric water jet rather than a 10HP gas.

- No need for planing speeds, 5 MPH is fine.

- Should still have Mirage pedal drives and should still be usable and steerable when the water jet is off, so go with a simple straight outlet and a separate rudder.

- A reversing baffle on the water jet would be nice.

- It all needs to be purpose-built and integrated, including wiring and controls, ready to use as delivered. Not some user installed bolt-on accessory like the Evolve.

- The jet drive and battery should be removable without rendering the kayak unusable. The motor and water jet assembly would need to be a small pod that plugs into a compartment molded into the kayak bottom with wiring run similar to how it is done for depthfinders so the kayak hull remains watertight.

- Battery in bow for balance.

- And provide a 12V tap for chartplotters and other electronics.

Some may question using a water jet but not me after many hundreds of miles on a kayak with an electric prop. But there are a few kayaks now with drop in trolling motors or motor pods that replace a pedal drive. The eMogi (https://emogi.eu/) is probably the most integrated with an inboard design and a clever folding propellor. A more powerful Bixpy-like shrouded prop system would also work.

Yeah, saw that one. Also the many 30 MPH+ FrankenKayak contraptions. I filed them all in my "You'll shoot your eye out!" folder. I'm good viewing the world at 5 MPh.
