I was pedaling fairly hard today when the drum shaft popped out, bending the cam lock knobs and cracking the hull. When looking for the reason why, I noticed that one side of the drum shaft was much longer than the other. Is this the reason and will Hobie fix it? BTW it is a 3 month old Revolution.

Cracked? Yes, we will replace the hull. That is an odd one. It is possible that the asymmetrical drum shaft contributed to the problem I suppose. Contact your dealer and file a claim.

Hey ya'll :o
Thank you FJax for the pictures and information. I just checked both of the mirage drives on my Tandem and the front drive had a similar looking lopsided drum shaft as depicted here. I just gently tapped it over so it is now even on both sides. I dont know how long its been that way and we have not suffered any damamge to the drive well as far as I can tell but perhaps this is something that everyone should check before locking down the cam knobs..

FunJax,
You are not alone with crack. I have a blue revo also that the same thing happened. Rep was at the store when I returned it and now waiting on a new hull. Hobie support has always been the best and I really hope this is a fluke thing.
