beach cart

built my own beach cart. unfortunately the tires were too small and I had to get several people to help me in and out of the water from the beach. What size tires should I replace the current tires with? Any suppliers out there you would recommend?

Oof! eternal question: "How to make your own Cattrax and cheaper than buying them?"

Tires we typically use are Nanco 21-12-8, slicks. Unfortunately they are expensive now ($56 each) and fit only 8" rims. The HUGE trick is finding the right kind of rim that have a huge bore in them so a Schedule 40 aluminum pipe, measuring about 2" O.D. (I think 1.75 ID) will fit, leaving room for the Delrin rod bearings you cut on your saw. Otherwise, I guess you could make your own cart...

But, the 21x12-8 tires are the only thing I've seen used in person at the beach.

I built one years ago that used a plastic 55 gallon drum in the middle of the boat. Worked ok.
I made one a few years ago using dock wheels and an aluminum tube. It cost nearly $300 to build. I wish I'd just bought Cat Trax. I've never used it, not sure how well the dock wheels will work in sand.

I made my own beach wheels a few years ago to move my old Wave around on the beach. I used big plastic dock wheels. I would say it worked ok but not great. When a good deal on some actual Cat Trax came up on Craigslist, I bought them and they work amazing compared to my solution. Now that I have a ~400 pound T2 to move around, I would not want to use my old solution for this boat. It is hard enough with the Cat Trax and two people.
