Just for fun -- let's speculate what is going to be T2 D-PN

See

http://offshore.ussailing.org/Portsmouth_Yardstick/Current_Tables/Multihull_Classes.htm

for comparison.

Here are some relevant points of reference, in order of increasing speed, i.e. going from slower (high D-PN) to faster (lower DP-N) at bottom. These are from the Portsmouth table linked above.

Hobie Wave = 92.1
Hobie 14 = 86.4
Hobie Getaway = 83.3
Nacra 500 = 76.4
Hobie 17 = 74
Hobie 16 = 76.0

My personal hope is that the T2 will have a D-PN in high 70s, or just below 80. This would be halfway between the H16 and Getaway. Given the T2's sail area to weight ratio of 172 sq ft/388 lbs (0.443), compared to 218 sq ft/320 lbs (0.618) for H16 and 180 sq ft/390 lbs (0.462) for Getaway, this may be a close call.

Agree. As it looks, most of the difference is in sail area between T2 and Getaway in jib size. Tatoo has main/jib sail area 140/32. I do not have main/jib area for Getaway, but just looking at the boat picture, jib is relatively large comparing to the main. This seems to be a trend in new cat design: small jib, bigger main, taller mast, and overall better performance as per total sail area. For example, Nacra 500 has main/jib area 152/38 (total 190) as compared with H16 153/55 (total 218). Both H16 and N500 have about the same D-PN.

Thank you for catching that, hobie17li! That weight above 500 lbs should have made me suspicious. I went ahead and corrected the numbers in my post above.
