I need some help figuring out the top mounting location for the Gennaker. The instructions are in French and google translation: "Get the gennaker halyard, gennaker halyard is in the bag and move into the top of mast pulley." This is the photo that goes with that step. |

I just put one on a T2. From the information I was able to gather, the new strip mounts 52" above the one already on the mast. |

I don't know what type of mounting yours came with but mine has nothing other than the spinner and shackle. Just shows it being tied around the mast. the only place I could even try that would be at the mast head. That does not seem right, I would think it should have an extra tang to rivet to the mast or something. Sounds like that's what you had. |

Yes, the spinnaker has to mount above the hounds. There is a stirrup that mounts higher up and some people will use a mast bale to reduce outward tension on that stirrup. We considered it but since the T2 instructions didn't show using it, we went direct to the stirrup and have had no issues. |

You need a tang riveted to the Comptip. Europe uses a solid aluminum mast, so it is a bit different. They gave me a measurement to the tang's shackle hole at 249.5 inches above the bottom of the mast extrusion. The standing rigging tang is at 214.5", so the reacher's tang would be 35" above the standing rigging tang. We use a Hobie 14 tang for the reacher... 10690000 (you have to bend it a little to conform to the H16 shape). This also would require rivets and sealing sleeves. 6 of each: 8010181 Rivet 8011291 Rivet Sleeves These part should have come with the kit, but perhaps not added at the time your kits were shipped. |

Regarding the Gennaker. I am looking to purchase the kit. My only question is due to the fact I trailer sail and rig every time at the beach, can the pole and wires stay attached while trailering and mast down. I already keep all my stays attached and only have to attach the forestay when launching. Thanks for the input. |

Those instructions help a lot but now another question. It shows an eye bolt and metal bracket at the bridle wires that I don't have. Are they part of the kit too. Maybe a complete bag of parts was left out of my kit. |

I talked to Bob... the bridle is shown correctly in the US assembly manual. The French version appears to be outdated. |

buxton, post some pics when you take her out. Also, out of curiosity, why'd you go with the gen instead of the spin? I'm probably going to add one of those in a year or two as my skills progress a bit, but not sure which one to go with. |

I'll be getting lots of good photos and video that for sure. I have a pivoting mount on the front spreader bar. Plus I'll be getting video with my drone. I'll also be keeping track of the modifications I make along the way. Like adding the neoprene to the seating area so it's not as easy to slide off. 1/2 of the 16 rail kit is all you need, real easy to install. I also stitched some extra hiking straps on the tramp using seat belts and dental floss Were the spinnaker is really a down wind sail that puffs out, the Gennaker has it's own forestay like a jib and that's what I'm hoping to use it as. Broad and beam reaches if I get it set right. The jib on the T2 is too small. I'm also going to try out a Bravo boom on the main sail. Right now the sail shape changes so much with the main sheet, I've been using the traveler 80% of the time. I don't like sailing that way as much. |

couple questions. 1) is there a separate bracket needed for the spreader bar/bridles? 2) can you cleat off the gennaker sheet (for long reaches, or single handing)? 3) did you need to put rivets in the tramp? 4) anything else to note about the install? |

Quote: 2) can you cleat off the gennaker sheet (for long reaches, or single handing)? No you can't, you have to hold it. I added extra blocks just like the jib and solo tacking is a pain solo. You do have to add a bracket to the mast, it's about 12" above the factory shroud mount, I could measure it, rivets onto the comp tip. I have mine listed for sale...$750.00 |
