Post subject:  lower rudder casting

What is the purpose of the adjustment screw on the lower rudder casting for a h18 ? (new style)

Post subject:  There are two screws

There are two adjustment screws. One is, as always, for the cam plunger tension. The screw located in the lower part of the housing is to set the rudder aft more if desired. Set this screw to the desired rudder rake then set the upper plate to hold the rudder forward to that position. If the upper plate is too far aft, the rudder will be allowed to slip aft under load... if the plate is set too far forward, the cam may not lock properly.

Thanks for the reply, I was refering to the "bottom" set screw. How does this set screw limit travel ? Do you screw it in till it makes contact with the rudder ?

Yep.

Screw it in till it contacts the blade. You set the rudder rake (forward stop) as desired.
