I'm installing new standing rigging on my new to me H18,and my old forestay has a swivel on both sides of the sheave. The new lower forestay has a blade with a hole in it.The old one
has a fork the clevis goes through. Also the new one is longer by the same amount as the
swivel. I take it they changed the design somewhere along the way ? By the way mine is a
1978.

Thanks,Sam

My 82 has a swivle that has a blade with hole on both ends and attaches to a foot long forestay that is clevised to the mast tang. As long as you got the forestay setup from a hobie dealer and the length is the same ,I dont see any problem.

Thanks,Shawn. Mine also has the swivel on top of the sheave on the short top forestay. Plus it has a swivel under the sheave that connects to the lower forestay. I did get them from a Hobie dealer.

Thanks,Sam

Thats interesting,The swivel on my boat is a barrel shaped stainless piece that actually swivels at both ends.Sounds like you have something different. If I had figured out the photobucket site to post pics I would send you one.

Mine is the same barrell shaped. But there is one on each side of the sheave.
The new lower forestay is longer than the old one by the lenght of the swivel.

Maybe the folks you got the boat from were having trouble with the furler,I dont see any need for two swivels.I put the rebuild kit in my furler unit (that was super easy and way cheaper than the whole unit). The only time I have an issue is trying to furl the jib with tension on the mainsheet, which should be avoided anyway.

Thats what I was thinking. Someone must have had the whole lower forestay custom made
to put the extra swivel in. It furls fine now I'll see how it does with just one swivel. I see
in the parts manual it shows one swivel like yours.
