Hi, I just bought a Hobie 18 with a broken mast and then i bought a mast for it separately. The mast is exactly the same length (28') but the shape is different. It is more of an oval shape than the foil shape of the broken mast. It also has the H16 style halyard lock at the top instead of the ring. Then, i noticed that there are no diamond spreaders and it doesn't look like there ever were any. Do you think that this is just some random mast that someone converted by putting Hobie hardware on it?

If it's not teardrop profile with the halyard hook and spreaders, then it's not a Hobie 18 mast.

Check to see if the mast base is different too.

Sounds like it might be a Mast off of a Sol Cat, but as Matt Miller noted "Pictures" are necessary to know for sure.
The Sol Mast has a base like a Hobie 17 or a Hobie 20, designed to fit over a Ball rather than a post
