Sailing dead downwind

I know this is not an effecient,or fast way to sail a cat. However, sometimes at the end of the day I sail downwind to reach my desired point on shore. It is relaxing after a day on the water to just loaf back to shore. My issue is on the inland lakes I sail I have to contend with powerboat wakes. I need to maintain enough sail power to cut through the power boat wakes. I also need to control the boom as the mast rocks back and forth.
Has anyone fitted thier boat with cheek blocks on the rear crossbar to hold the main sheet traveler port or starboard. If so how did you arrange cleats as I think it will take two lines to do this.
This modification is likely illegal fo class racing. I do not race so this is not an issue.

Either you or your crew just sit on the boom to hold it out, no blocks or gadgets required.

You could go to the extreme of putting a boom vang on that can be switched between the outboard ends of the front crossbar, but really, it's overkill for what you describe.

How about sitting with your back against the daggerboard and putting one foot on the boom?

That's what we do when we're racing (boards up downwind)
