Does anyone know about how much the hulls/tramp on an 1985 H-18 (without the mast/rigging) weigh? How tall is the mast?

The mast is 28 feet.

The boat is about 400 all up, so without the mast, sails and rigging?... I can only make a guess, but maybe under 300 for the platform?

- Hobie 18 Standard... clear annodized aluminum.

- Hobie 18 SE... Black anodized aluminum, color tramp and sails.

- Magnum Wings... welded frame, length of tramp area.

- Hobie 18 Magnum... add (welded frame) "Magnum" wings (1984-85 ish).

- Hobie 18 Formula... made in Europe. 1 1/2' taller mast, Mylar main and jib.

- Hobie 18 Formula... Made in the US. Standard Hobie 18 with white powder coated aluminum.

- SX Wings... Rivited wing assembly, long seat ring oval. Seat extends forward of the front x bar and aft of the rear, nearly to the transom.

- Hobie 18 SX... Euro Formula design rig with US made SX (long ring) wings.

- Formula 18 (F18) Design class built to a "formula" made by many manufacturers. Hobie Tiger, Narca F18, Inter 18, Capricorn, Dart Hawk, Cirrus, Flyer, Twister

Located in the Hobie product support site under sailboats.

Shows how to install the SX wings on the boat and how to assemble them. If you have the Magnum wings, I guess all you would need is the instructions on how to install on the boat. Should be the same procedure except you would not need to install the extra little support braces at the rear.

Made here in Oceanside, 1989. Not that many were made. I fought long and hard against that one. They were supposed to be anodized, but ended up powder coated. Chipped, corroded under the paint... not pretty. The sails had a long swoop of windows down the sail... stretched funny.

I am looking to buy a 92/93 H18 with wing as my birthday gift 8) , and I have not checked the boat yet.

I have searched around here and found many useful information that I need to address during the inspection, THANKS again to all sailors!! :D

The current owner said the boat is in good condition and is asking for about ~USD$2200, is it a good deal? :?:

I am currently sailing a 82/83 H16 and is now doing a major overhaul job (as you might found I have other postings about boat maintenance/delam fix), I do want to upgrade to a more comfortable one..

But.. my 2nd question is... I just weight ~125-130 pound, is it wise to jump up? (I will install a hobie bob on top of the H18 mast and a shourd extender if I get her)
