Both masts are 29 feet 6 inches long. If the main sail base is shorter, it can still be done on the SX boom. I know it would not be classs legal but would the sail work ?

Possible... We have an engineer here who modified a Tiger main to use on his H18... It works fine.

You do realize though that at that point, the sail would probably be worth more than the rest of the boat? (depending on the age of the 18, of course)

You 'de be better off with a tiger main as the wildcat main is made for a wing mast not a tear drop.
