Thats what happens when you get old. You notice the boat parts before the girl parts.

The boat is about 20 years old, whereas the wing crew I believe is 13. My oh my, how times have changed.

Quick question concerning the boomless 18 photo. Is it possible to rig a Hobie 18 without a boom? I have been looking for a used 17 Sport for the family to learn to sail on but only found an 18SX locally. Would prefer a boomless rig. Any ideas?

The boom is part of the mast rotation system on the H18. It may be very difficult to change this without other modifications. It also sets the tension of the foot.

It also looks like the boomless H18 is sitting on the beach and has the boom removed so it won't hit the subject of the photo in the head.

I am currently in the process of testing a Tiger main on my 18 with a 29'6" SX mast. The comptip may prove to be troublesome as Tiger sails are not cut for comptips. Will post when conversion is complete. Allready have the Tiger spin rigged on my 28' mast and love it. Can run it a little above a broad reach with little to no flogging. Wish I could close haul with all that sail, what a ride that would be.
